The heavenly 22 acre Coldingham Loch in the Borders is one of the oldest fisheries in Scotland, with an enviable reputation as one of the most popular locations for fishing holidays in the UK.

As a site of Special Scientific Interest, filled with the waters of its own freshwater spring, and well stocked with superb quality blue, brown and rainbow trout, Coldingham Loch is the perfect setting, with the promise of the perfect catch! Naturally nutrient rich, the waters of the loch are the ideal habitat for these elegant and exceedingly tasty trout.

You can enjoy fishing the loch from bank or boat, where the brown trout average 1lb, and the blue and rainbow trout at more than 2lbs. Coldingham Loch has its own strain of brown trout, which can be taken from May onwards on small nymphs and dries. The recent improvements to amenities at the loch, by the new owners, will soon provide over a mile of excellent bank fishing.

The loch also benefits from an extended season, lasting from March to November, with regular restocking: Fishing in April and May can garner some excellent catches of over-wintered fish weighing in at up to 6lb, while fishing in July and August can also produce some terrific rises.

The number of rods is restricted to ensure that the Coldingham Loch experience is always outstanding, and anglers don't feel over crowded. With this in mind early booking is highly recommended to avoid disappointment.

Carmel Kennedy and Gareth Taylor warmly welcome guests to their beautiful Loch, Fly Fishery, and holiday cottages…Not only a stunning location for anglers, but also the perfect environment for twitchers, walkers, and with the coast less than two miles away, divers too. Of course there are plenty of amazing golf courses, beaches, stately homes and even the bright lights of Edinburgh, just a short drive away.

There are five charming holiday cottages to choose from, including a newly refurbished Victorian boathouse, a traditional estate lodge, and three comfortable chalets. Each one is well appointed with everything you require for a great holiday, whether fishing, walking, cycling, or just relaxing.
